John W. Martin

Mr. Martin is one of our co-founders and is our Principal Executive Officer. Prior to forming Sustainability Development Partners, Mr. Martin served exclusively as the principal of the Law Office of John W. Martin, a boutique and business-oriented law firm specializing in corporate law, corporate finance, intellectual property and mergers and acquisitions. During his extensive legal and business career, Mr. Martin has been instrumental in the formation and organization of many new and entrepreneurial enterprises and have provided such enterprises with a variety of general business and strategic advice and corporate advisory services, including the development and implementation of financing strategies and the development and execution of organic and acquisition fueled growth plans. Mr. Martin routinely analyzes complex situations, transactions and projects, and develops innovative, workable and effective solutions to such matters. 

Mr. Martin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lake Forest College and a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California at Davis. 


Kaelin N. Lau

As one of our co-founders, Ms. Lau has worked as a project partner with Mr. Martin for several years prior to our formation; most recently as the CEO of a startup company that Mr. Martin and Ms. Lau founded. Ms. Lau is our Chief Creative Officer and operationally our Corporate, Governmental Affairs and Community Relations Manager. As our Chief Creative Officer, Ms. Lau is principally responsible for developing and implementing the creative visions for all of our projects, and is also responsible for developing brand management strategies for our projects. 

As our Corporate, Governmental Affairs and Community Relations Manager,  Ms. Lau is principally in charge of overseeing and managing our corporate relationships (e.g., our strategic partners, branding partners,vendors, employees and capital partners), establishing and managing our relationships with local, state and federal governmental agencies, and developing, implementing and leading various programs designed to engage and motivate the communities we participate in to enthusiastically support our projects. 

Having been born and raised in the heart of the Silicon Valley, community development, an eye for design along with an instinct for learnedness and innovation allows Ms. Lau to be a highly effective leader within complex endeavors.   




Kardent, is a one-stop design, planning and management firm located in Long Beach, California, that routinely assist us in project areas such as project management, construction management, architecture, electrical and mechanical engineering coordination, construction documents and site and building design. Kardent holds architectural licenses in 19 states from Washington, DC to Washington State, and essentially provides one-stop, turnkey solution for institutions that need facilities management services for any type of project, including project management, architectural design and project coordination. 



Burnham Planning & Development is an urban planning and real estate development firm founded in 2013 by Derek Burnham.  Mr. Burnham  has over 15 years experience in the urban planning and real estate
fields in both the public and private sector.  As the principal of Burnham Planning & Development, Mr. Burnham offers a wide range of services for real estate development projects, including site selection, property acquisition, due diligence, entitlements and permitting for projects throughout Southern California.
Prior to starting Burnham Planning & Development, Mr. Burnham served as the Planning Administrator for the City of Long Beach where he was involved in several projects and policy efforts throughout Long Beach. Most notably, Mr. Burnham was one of the key staff members involved with the preparation of the award winning Downtown Plan and Program EIR. Mr. Burnham was also responsible for overseeing all planning Bureau functions including development project review and permitting functions. In this role, he assisted with the approval of major projects, including Shoreline Gateway, Press-Telegram/Molina Healthcare, Golden Shore Master Plan, Douglas Park and many others. 

Mr. Burnham attended the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy where he received a Masters in Urban Planning with an Economic Development concentration.
